Malaysian Women's Weekly June 2014 Issue
This is one of my favourite fashion magazines and I usually get a copy almost every month, depending on the topic of interest for the month.
The reason why this months issue caught my eye was the caption : 'Sexy At Any Shape'.
Now what will any woman think when she saw this caption? Of course we will immediately grab a copy. Wouldn't you? After all it is a form 'educated knowledge' for us all.
But when I opened the pages with great excitement and having high expectations of the article, this is my shocking find :
At just one look, I thought to myself...is this an advert for the clothes and accessories? Or is it an informative article? I was really disappointed!!
When it said 'Sexy At Any Shape', I would expect firstly the article to feature models of different shapes modelling the outfit that flatters every women's shape like, pear shape, apple shape, hour glass shape, etc. But using the same model doesn't give a very good impact on what the message the writer is trying to send out.
Yes there is some noted points that can be learnt from but again, it's information is pretty common knowledge and quite limited. Nothing outstanding about it. For me, it's like 'tell me something new'.
Using the same model doesn't do justice to the article either. Some readers may not be able to visualise what the writer is trying to say. So, by using the same model, we common readers do get the wrong idea or confused. Yes even the not so curvy and slim sisters also do come in different shapes, but my question is...is the article aimed for the thinner or curvy women?
However, I feel that the next couple of pages have better information about how to dress to flatter your body and the best part is that it includes illustrations that the common public can have a better understanding of.
Which brings me to share with you all something that I have been reading up on a very similar topic. Coming soon next ...
