Shoes shoes shoes...every women's best friend

Aaaahhh...finally I'm back after a short 'disappearing' act'! Hahaha...

Oooo...in that short blank time that I was 'away', I have had so much to observe that I don't know now which topic shall I start off with...

Ok I shall start off with my most recent visit to Gurney Plaza mall to look for shoes, every woman's other best friend!

I was looking for office shoes to be specific. How hard can that be? Apparently so it is. It is always the case of when you want it, you can't find it, but when you don't want it, you will see it everywhere.

Many of us are not aware but there are criterias which you will need to consider before you buy the perfect pair of shoes. Generally consider :-

1. Purpose of buying shoes

Ask yourself, why do I want to buy another pair of shoes? Do I really need it? or is it too beautiful that I MUST have it?

2. Where am I gonna wear these shoes too?

You can't wear 1 pair of shoes to all places or functions. Each pair has its purpose. Eg. A career woman would normally wear court shoes to the office, a woman who is going for fine dining dinner or a cocktail party would wear either the peeptoe or a strappy heeled shoes, or a woman who is just going to the beach would wear flipflops.

3. What outfits that I have that can match the shoes?

It is always very very important to match the shoes to the outift/dress. Reason - simply because it completes the outfit. One cannot wear flipflops to the office while dressed in office attire, at least publicly, unless it is after office hours or if there is no one around.

Refering to the picture above : Judge for yourself this classic example. For me, it's Trash vs. Elegant. So do you see how the shoes can either make or break the dressing?

4. Price of the shoes matches the quality

Ask yourself - Is the price right? Is it worth every penny spent? Or is it better to wait & see if there's gonna be a sale coming up?

A lot of shoes these days don't last forever. So you gonna have to make the best out of it, even if it's top quality.

But personally I feel that paying Rm400 - 500 for a designer pair is a waste cos eventually the shoes will be worn off after being well used over time.

But at the same time I'm not asking you to go get a dirt cheap pair that you only get to wear it once & it falls apart. A reasonable quality pair of shoes for a reasonable price.

5. Bags = Shoes

Another thing to consider is does your shoes match your handbag? I know it is quite difficult to match it all the time but do use your imagination or at least some common sense. If you have no idea on what I'm talking about, or if you're unsure on what is all about, do look up or google some fashion icons, such as Princess Diana, Catherine Dutchess of Cambridge, Princess Mary of Denmark, Nicole Kidman, Victoria Beckham, Gwyneth Paltrow, etc.

So that's the basic 'teachings' when buying shoes...as far as I know. If you wanna know more, do google up for more detailed information.

Ok back to my observation while I was looking around for office shoes... very disappointing!!

I couldn't find any that suited my taste. Most of it that was on display was either not suitable for office wear or too expensive. Yup...like 10% discount is gonna make a big difference!

All I wanted was a simple black & brown wedge. My office isn't that particular but pesentation is important. But I just couldn't find any suitable pair. It's ridiculous! Even when I did find a possible pair, the price was ridiculous - am not gonna pay RM200+ for a pair, just to wear in the office.

So what has happened to creating old fashioned regular shoes? Am not saying that I'm old fashioned, I do have my collection of fancy shoes but what I'm tying to say is that maybe we need to see more tasteful sensible shoes for work or maybe more variety of wearable shoes.

Shoes...shoes...shoes....every woman's next best friend! Besides the diamonds of course...hahaha...
