Curvy On The Covers

I came across this interesting read on the Daily Mail UK the other day and wish to share it with you all my lovely curvy babes out there.

Below are the most recent magazine covers that have featured some famous curvy women of our time.

The lady is a vamp: Amy Schumer stars on the cover of Vanity Fair in a vintage shoot by Annie Leibovitz

Was a little surprised as well that curvy women were also featured in a health magazine....yes...HEALTH MAGAZINE! It was a bit of a shock to me personally as to my knowledge, health magazines don't feature curvy women as we are branded fat and unhealthy. But now, that has changed...or has it really? How far is this true?

I have always been a firm believer that women can be of any size as long as they are fit and healthy. Everyone is built differently.

Lately plus size supermodel Ashley Graham has been making a huge splash on the covers of magazines and I believe this positive move has created a huge positive phenomenon in many ways such as creating awareness of body positive to the public and mass media as well as changing the fashion world.

But a curvy woman being featured on the cover of magazines isn't something new. In the past, many curvy women have been featured, only that we don't pay close attention. What has changed? Why only now in the 21st century that it has come to light that curvy is beautiful too? Why now that the fashion industry has finally come to accept curvy models?

Below are a few magazine covers that has featured curvy women in the past :

Curvy women not only were featured in magazine covers but featured as well in the magazines itself, such as some examples below :

Finding this quote from one of the world's most famous supermodels Heidi Klum was a big surprise to me as I can't imagine that this was said by her of all people. A person coming from an industry that all these years only skinny girls can make it to the fashion industry. Salute Heidi!!

Then comes Whitney Thompson, the first ever plus size model to win the America's Next Top Model Cycle 10. Her winning the title was a big victory to the plus size fashion industry and this winning has breathe in a whole new fresh air into the fashion world.

Her title has not only brought new light for the plus size fashion industry, but as well for herself personally. Like other plus size supermodels such as Ashley Graham and Iskra Lawrence before her, her success has brought body shammers to their knees and forced the fashion industry to accept the fact that the world is changing the idealogy of being a fashion model. Below are the extracts of articles that shows the fruits of her success :

Well, it is sad that on my side of the world, there are hardly, in fact close to none that I know of of any Asian plus size models. I certainly hope that this will change in the near future. Let's see how if my own modelling career will take off or not, depending on if I do get through my modelling course later in the year....crossing my fingers!
